Eventbeschreibung
First held in October 2005, it firmly established itself on the national and international festival scene within a very short period of time. The aim of the Zurich Film Festival is to offer larger audiences an insight into the work of young, emerging filmmakers from all over the world and to promote the exchange of ideas between established filmmakers, creative new talent and the public.
Prizes and Competitions
In three international competitions (“International Feature”, “International Documentary Film”, and “Focus Switzerland, Germany, Austria”), young filmmakers compete for the main prize, the Golden Eye. As well as the competition, the latest films by renowned filmmakers are presented as exclusive Gala Premieres and Special Screenings. Furthermore, the “New World View” section focuses on contemporary film from regions with up-and-coming film industries. In addition, film directors and actors are honored for their exceptional achievements with various awards.

The hub of the festival activity is Zurich’s Sechseläutenplatz, situated in the heart of the city and on the shore of Lake Zurich. The festival cinemas, Le Paris, Piccadilly and the Festival Centre are also located here. Additional Festival movie theaters, Arena Cinemas Sihlcity, Filmpodium and Kosmos, are just a few minutes away.
